CFWS week in review – 290719

As we close the week off, winter arrived.

A few last-minute adjustments to classes on Sunday and Monday due to the weather, more just playing it safe Crew.

With the Police and NZTA recommending we all limit non-essential travel we decided to cancel all sessions on Sunday and the 5:30 am and 6:30 am sessions for Monday, we will assess the 9:30 session once daylight hits.

Closing the gym everyone’s your own good clearly didn’t dampen the spirits too much and it looks like many of you made use of the day to enjoy some fun with your friends, family and the snow. Awesome.

Now, on to last weeks shenanigans.

It was a great week of training Crew, including an epic night of community fun with 19.3 “Synchro Party”.

Celebrating a 42nd birthday and the return of the BBQ was really the icing on the cake…oh, speaking of cake, check this out from Tash, wow.

Thank you to everyone who attended, competed, helped out, spectated, cooked, cleaned, entertained, well pretty much everyone. Thank you all so much for a wonderful finish to the week.

Last week at CFWS – Monday 29th July 2019

“If you want to be happy, you have to be happy on purpose.

When you wake up, you can’t just wait to see what kind of day you’ll have.

You have to decide what kind of day you’ll have”

-Joel Osteen

Happy Monday Crew, let’s check in on what’s coming up this week at CFWS.

Catch up with the Crew – Tuesday 30th July, 2019

With only 2 more sleeps until his 4th anniversary at CFWS, we thought it was a good time to let you know a few things about Joe that you may not already know about him.

Originally from a competitive Rowing background, Joe very quickly found his feet at CrossFit Wild South way back in 2015 and has been a regular since then. Joe puts his hand up for many of our community events and competitions, he has the record for most wins for Friday Night Lights, in fact, FNL 19.2 was the first team time in living memory that we have not read his name out as part of a winning team.

As always, the best way to get to know Joe a bit more is to take some time to chat next time you see him in the box, you should ask him about his car…if you have time to hear the answer…

Name: Joe Findley

Life Level (Age): 31

The Youth at CFWS – Wednesday 31st July, 2019

Our Youth Programs are inspired through the very best knowledge and resources that the world has to offer, but more importantly, they are specific to Youth training and ALWAYS at the forefront of that is “What is best for the kids”.

Trust…

Any successful relationship is underpinned by trust, a coaching relationship is no different and there are several aspects that go into ensuring a relationship of trust is built, and it starts at the initial introduction to CrossFit Wild South and particularly when it comes to kids in the Wild South Youth programs.

19.3 is “Synchro party” – Friday 2nd August, 2019

19.3 is on tonight and it will be an epic finale’ to the trilogy of events followed by further celebrations with my birthday party.

DJ Doug will bang out some tunes and Jason Schmidt will entertain us all for as long as we are able to keep up.

You don’t have to be competing in 19.3 to come along, it will be great to have as many of the CFWS community there to celebrate with.

Why do we bother?

Interesting to see some old words from the blog resurface last week, in case you missed Doug’s post in the Crew page, check them out.
You never know, they may mean something to you.

“Now we know that life doesn’t allow that for each of us all of the time, depending on the time of day you train, you can often turn up to the box in one of many states.

The early birds may have had a shitty nights sleep after one of the kids was up all night or it could even be a Monday morning and the stress and anxiety of what the week brings may be affecting your state of mind. The night crew aren’t any more immune to it either, you might have had to deal with an Employee or colleague that was quite simply doing their utmost to push every single one of your buttons in one day.

Why does that matter?

“At least I have turned up haven’t I?”. You may say.”
