CFWS week in review – 080719

The first week of July is done and dusted at CFWS

We put the 12-week squat program to bed with some amazing results across the board, with consistency being rewarded with some very impressive PR’s.

Registrations for 19.2 are a bit slow coming in, you don’t want to miss out on what is a really fun event and a fantastic opportunity to workout with people that you might not always get the chance to.

What an amazing night 19.1 was, are you registered for 19.2?

This week at CFWS – Monday 8th July 2019

“I want to see what happens if I don’t give up”

12 weeks later and we are now at the final week of the squats program, bring your “A” game and be ready to take a swing at a couple PB’s.

The rest of the week sees a couple of sessions dedicated to developing that “Coordination” aspect of fitness.

This Saturday we have only one-morning WOD class to make room for the “Mission Motivation” session that Ruth and Chayse have been planning. We have expanded the population limit, so you can expect there to be teamwork involved.

Catch up with the Crew – Tuesday 9th July, 2019

Name: Rachel Anderson-Evans

Life Level (Age): 43

Job: Mum, teacher (high school PE, Health, Science)

When did you start with CFWS? : May 2016

Your Fundamentals experience? : I knew very little about CrossFit prior to doing my Fundamentals with Ruth. I had a friend in the US who was new to it and loving it and knew of a couple of friends in Australia who had picked it up after I left but was otherwise very green.

I wanted something consistent, that would challenge me, and help me regain condition after having my third baby (Xavier, who was 5 months old when I started Fundamentals).

Almost three years (and another baby later) I’m still here, still loving it, and am possibly at my strongest and fittest ever! With a whole heap of new friends to boot.

The Youth at CFWS – Wednesday 10th July, 2019

Our Youth Programs are inspired through the very best knowledge and resources that the world has to offer, but more importantly, they are specific to Youth training and ALWAYS at the forefront of that is “What is best for the kids”.

Remember when, as a kid, you just seemed to be able to “do” stuff?

Climb a tree, jump a ditch, backflips on the trampoline, enjoy PE at school, the list of things we could “do” was quite vast. This, to us, is physical literacy,

“The capacity to interact with the environment and is characterized by the physical competence, confidence, motivation, as well as knowledge and understanding, to pursue and master the broadest possible range of physical activities throughout a lifetime.”

 – The Brand X Method PYCC course

Being able to “do” things is something that seems to be slowly drifting away from our youth (which obviously they take into adulthood). There is clearly a heap of factors that can contribute to it, but all of them really do come down to choices. If we choose to put ourselves in environments where we play more, learn to move better as we develop through life, be creative with our movement and most of all know how to do it correctly, then we will be able to “do” and enjoy more things for much longer in our life.
