Ash, another of the Crew still with our community from the days of the group Starter Series.
By his own admission, Ash wasn’t a gym goer until he found CFWS. It has opened up a whole new level of understanding to all things fitness for Ash and he has continued to show consistency in his training and the rewards for that work continue to come.
As always, the best way to get to know Ash more is to take some time to chat next time you see him in the box, beware though, he is one of the 5:30 am red eye Crew…

When did you start with CFWS? : August 2015. Can’t believe it’s been that long!
Your Fundamentals experience? : I still remember the first night and Ruth casting a knowing eye. I knew after 1 minute of skipping and having my push-ups pulled to bits I was in big trouble 😳😂
So much still to work on..and have learned so much…especially the need for good mobility.
Your CrossFit experience to date? : I could have counted the times I had been to a gym on 2 hands prior to CFWS so weights have been very foreign to me. Have learned heaps and just enjoying the journey & the morning crew banter!
So much respect for the coaches dedication and knowledge and what’s involved to be a regular Rx athlete.
Life outside of CFWS? : Married to Wiki. 3 kids. Enjoy a spot of trail running. Coaching wee boys rugby. Bloke stuff.
Any movements you particularly like? : Anything with running and no overhead squats is good.
What movements are you paying particular attention too? : Mobility is my biggest battle. I need to do more & being upside down!
Anything coming up on your to-do list?? : Routeburn Challenge. Got cancelled this year so box not ticked…
What do you think the most unpleasant sounding word is to you? : Burpee
What is the first thing that you do when you wake up? : Put my gym stuff on.
Have you ever met someone famous? : Had Good chat with Graham Henry in the Cardiff Rugby club once
If you joined the circus, what would your act be? : Lion Tamer
What makes you laugh more than it really should? : Chayse’s left arm throwing skills
What makes you angrier than it really should? : Bullies
Have you read any good books lately? : Deadline… Memoirs of Alan Sayers
What life lesson have you had to learn the hard way? : Being prepared prevents embarrassment when public speaking & Go to bed earlier!
