Mila, one of the OG Kids Crew from the old box at the Stadium, has progressed right through our Youth Programs and is a shining example of what is achieved through consistency in our Youth Programs.
As always, the best way to get to know Mila more is to take some time to chat next time you see her in the box.

Nickname: DJ Mila
When did you start with CFWS? : 2012 with CrossFit Kids program and then 2014 with the CrossFit Juniors.
Your Fundamentals experience? : I didn’t go through a fundamentals class but I’m 2012&2013 I did some CrossFit kid holiday programs with Coach Mike and Maria.
Your CrossFit experience to date? : I have been doing CrossFit for 7 years off and on but started seriously training 3-4 years ago in the new gym. I started in the Kids classes, moved up to the Junior high classes and from there I have moved up to the Teens classes where I first started lifting barbells and finding my 1RMS.
Recently I have also been able to join in a few adults classes which are so exciting to me as I can train now with Mum and Dad.
A couple of months ago I competed in my first ever CrossFit competition the Southern Crusade. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done in CrossFit but definitely very rewarding and I’m glad I did it. It was pretty cool to have everyone cheering me on during the workouts.
Life outside of CFWS? : Outside of CrossFit I’m mostly busy with school and all the homework they give us. Netball season has just started that so I will be on the court every Saturday for the next few months as well.
Any movements you particularly like? : My all-time favourite movement is Deadlifts because that’s when I can lift really heavy weights and use the 20kg plates!!
What movements are you paying particular attention too? : My goals for this year is to achieve one full strict push-up and by the end of the year be able to lift a 90kg deadlift.
Anything coming up on your to-do list?? : During the Crusade, I learnt how to do kipping pull ups and I haven’t yet mastered that skill but I think I’m close to getting the hang of it. So I think that’s one of my near future goals to achieve.
If you had a warning label for yourself, what would it say? : Grumpy when hungry
What is one of your most weird quirks? : Thrusters
If you joined the circus, what would your act be? : Hula hooper
What is the first thing that you do when you wake up? : Snooze my alarm to go back to sleep
Have you ever met someone famous? : I met Lauren Fisher my CrossFit idol!!!!!!!!!
Do you prefer to swim in pools of the ocean? : I prefer oceans
What makes you angrier than it really should? : Dad
What makes you laugh more than it really should? : Dad
Have you read any good books lately? : I read girl online on tour, I liked it so much I read it in one sitting. It was good because I could relate to the main character which always makes a book easy to read!
What life lesson have you had to learn the hard way? : If you leave all your homework to the last minute you will end up in tears
