Fundamentals, tick…say hello to the lovely Tsing.

We welcome Tsing (pronounced Jing – like “jingle bells”) to our community after graduating from our Fundamentals Program this week.

We had a bit of a chat about her experience of getting her health and fitness journey started with us as well as telling you all a bit more about herself.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your story as it were.

I am originally from Manchester in the UK. Have been in NZ since May 2017. I’ve yo-yo dieted most of my life alongside going to the gym and spinning classes. However, nothing seemed to work. I first heard about CrossFit back in the UK but I guess I just never thought I would be able to do it till now.

When you looked at starting along your health and fitness journey, what were you looking for?

Somewhere I’d feel comfortable going and a place where people will give me the right advice and guidance.

What was it about CrossFit Wild South’s free introduction session that convinced you to share that journey with them?

It wasn’t just the physical part of the intro session; it was the whole package. The importance that was put on the first step through the door, saying hello to someone different each time, the CrossFit philosophy, that Stacy sat down and wanted to take time to get to know about me and what I am about. That I felt that I would be acknowledged and valued as opposed to just being another source of revenue and income!

What did you enjoy most about the Fundamentals Program?

I have really enjoyed having the 1:1 training from Stacy and the time he takes to make sure that I understand what I am doing and that I have the correct handling and positioning of the equipment. I have enjoyed learning to lift weights properly. Learning to do things I never thought I’d be able to do and having the confidence to do it.

Now that you are in the main group classes, how are you finding the community?

I was super nervous before my first class. I get really anxious around people. It was like day one all over again but I was made to feel really welcome.

What do you hope to be able to say about your Health and Fitness in 12 months’ time?

I would like to say ‘I couldn’t do that 12 months ago but now I can’.
I would like to have better control of my breathing, shed some weight and have more muscle tone.

Tsing has hit 3 of our main classes this week since graduating and has already made an impression on our community and coaching team with her huge smile and determined effort in classes.
